The system originated in Europe in the early 1970's as temp bridges for the military as well as floating docks, over 12,000 units were used at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. These floats are still in use today.

The corrugated side was created and patented by Legodock's manufacturing division to provide the best and safest modular floating drive-on dock available today.

The Legodock system complies with Australian Standards AS 3962/2001 and is also Patented under Korean patent no. 10-2004-0003658 and design reg 30-2005-0001-035.
